Our capital campaign has started for the 2009 - 2010 school year...
(click on the 'Donate" button at the left to donate online with your credit card and for other options)
Soaring Eagles Alliance (SEA), Eldorado K-8’s PTO,
is pleased to announce the 3rd annual Capital Campaign! Our “Capital Campaign" runs through our Community Dinner on Oct. 16th. We focus our main “capital” drive to be able to
establish a formal budget to support this coming school year.
What is a direct
appeal Capital Campaign?
It
is your family's chance to give directly to the school by writing a check
(return envelope enclosed) or donating online. This is THE major fundraiser of
the 2009 – 2010 school year. Last year was a great success. Even though we had
only 35% participation, we raised over $35,000. We hope to exceed that this
year!
As
a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to Eldorado K-8, SEA has
been able to reduce overhead so that nearly every penny contributed goes
directly to Eldorado K-8’s education initiatives budgeted for and funded by the
SEA.
So many meaningful
reasons to give...
Eldorado
K-8 has received the Irwin School of Excellence award and has achieved an
excellent rating with high marks in district-wide evaluations and state CSAP
scores. We want that successful tradition to continue, but we cannot do it
without your help. This capital campaign enables SEA to fund Eldorado K-8’s literacy
programs, classroom support and enrichment programs.
Colorado public
education ranks 40th in the nation in per pupil funding (adjusted for
cost-of-living). Likewise, Colorado
is 38th in student-teacher ratios. The SEA for Eldorado K-8 was established solely
to promote community and raise funds for the needed programs that our school district
and state will not provide. Fund raising is a necessity.Local newshas been closely following this
issue and many sources of information are available online including a recent The Denver Post article highlighting the details of the
funding: http://www.denverpost.com/ci_12926871
One month. One
donation. One major fundraiser.
It
is fast and easy. You write a check or contribute online at: www.soaringeaglesalliance.comThat's it!
üIt's
an effective use of funds as your donation goes directly to the school
üYour
contributions are confidential and anonymous
üThere
are no classroom based competitions
üThere's
nothing to sell
üFully
tax deductible (no goods or services are
received)
üIt's
eligible for Corporate Matching Gifts stretching your donation even further!
Help others help us.
Many employers offer a matching gift
program for employees to donate to non-profit organizations and the SEA is a
501 (c) (3) organization. Please ask your employer if a "matching
gift" is an option. Grandparents, other family members, or friends are
also invited to support your child's school by check or online!
How much should I
give?
Every
family at Eldorado K-8 is encouraged to give what they can. We want to emphasize that all donations
of all sizes are appreciated. Our goal is 100% participation,
whether your child is in kindergarten, 8th grade, or somewhere in between. Full
participation indicates a strong sense of purpose and true dedication of our
school community. Additionally, for grant-writing purposes, potential grantors
like to see very strong participation levels. In order to fund our $75,000
budget we need $75 per child but understand that all financial situations are
different and some families can give more, some less.
How do I give to
Eldorado K-8 Capital Campaign?
Please
send a check payable to Soaring Eagles Alliance and either:
1, Place
the check in the pre-addressed return envelope and mail it
2. Or,
drop the envelope at school in the main office "collection box"
3. Send
the envelope back to school with your child for giving to his/her
teacher in their Friday folders
4. Have
your donation ready for drop-off at upcoming our
Community Dinner
Online
donations via a credit card can be made securely at: www.SoaringEaglesAlliance.com
but a 3% online fee will be dedicted from your donation. When contributing
online, please consider increasing your donation to help cover this fee – for
$75 this amounts to only $2.24 more. After your donation, SEA will send you a
receipt for your tax records.
How does the PTO
decide what to spend money on?
Our teachers and staff know all too well
the needs of our children. They know what works to keep Eldorado K-8, a school
of excellence. The SEA and the school Administrators target needs every spring
for the following year and revisit these needs again after we are able to set
our final budget following the capital campaign in the new school year. This
cycle repeats every year and the SEA welcomes the participation of its members –
all of the Eldorado K-8 families.
I'd like to give to
the campaign, but I am not comfortable with the amount suggested. What should I
do?
Any amount that your family can give
directly to this cause is appreciated. All giving will be kept confidential and
anonymous. The Capital Campaign team will report progress in terms of
percentages of Eldorado K-8 family participation and will share final numbers
and success of participation at the end of the campaign. We understand that not
every Eldorado K-8 family will be able to give the suggested donation amount.
Please give what you can. If you can give more, please do with the understand
that we are a very diverse school community.
Can grandparents,
aunts, uncles and friends give to the Capital Campaign?
Yes! Anyone who wants to be a friend of Eldorado
K-8 can donate! We appreciate our Eldorado K-8 community mentioning the
campaign to other family members and friends. Perhaps it will be a relief to
the persons who normally (and graciously) buy gift wrap from your child on a
regular basis. Unlike gift wrap sales, all the proceeds of a direct appeal
campaign go directly to Eldorado K-8. All donors will receive a letter thanking
them for their donation and providing a receipt for tax purposes.
What
if I cannot give now or would like to make smaller contributions throughout the
school year?
While
the main campaign drive ends in September, Eldorado K-8 parents should know
that they are welcome to contribute as their budget or situation allows.
Contributions can be made at any time throught the school year by mailing or
taking to school a check payable to Soaring Eagles Alliance or by donating
online at: www.soaringeaglesalliance.com
We
thank you in advance...
We know you receive numerous requests for
donations throughout the community. Rest assured that your donation is going
directly to Eldorado K-8 and your child’s education. We are dedicated to the
future of our students, our school and our community.
What if I have
questions??

a member of SEA, the community is encouraged to come to a general meeting which
is the 1st Wednesay of every month at 6:30pm in the school library. You can also contact our board at:

Make sure that you keep in the loop by registering for Eldorado K-8's Communication System. ALL NEWS is sent via this email tool.
Eldorado K-8 uses an email communications tool to keep our families updated with the most current information and news...
This tool is used by teachers, grade levels and administration to achieve improved communication at all levels of our Eldorado K-8 community. We have also assisted our “green” efforts by reducing paper usage and related printing costs.
NO NEWSLETTERS WILL BE PRINTED* for sending. All school news will be sent with this tool so ensure that you are signed up.
For those without regular internet or email access, copies of classroom or grade level communication, as well as school wide info, will be sent home in your child’s Friday Folder
Please advise the front office or your teacher / advisor if you require this option.
When signing up, be sure to note the following:
ÞIf you have children at another school such as Superior Elementary or Fairview (they also use this system), you may utilize your same e-mail address. You simply need a new password specific to our school. When you enter this detail on the front page, it will ask you to CONFIRM that you want to use this email that is registered at another school.
ÞYou must fill out Step 1 with your required detail including your e-mail address. (To do more than one email, you have to set up multiple accounts.) The data in this step is also used for the student directory if you opt into it so ensure it is complete.
ÞIn Step 2, please choose interests to possibly assist with and we will let you know when they occur—you can choose at that time whether to volunteer.
ÞMAKE SURE to fill out Step 3 with your child(ren)’s name(s), classroom teacher or advisory grade (If currently unknown select a “NEW” class). If you do not do this, you will not be approved for an account.
ÞSelect “Login” and then “Logout” back at the main page.
NOTE: Infinite Campus IS NOT linked to this software. You must set up an account with PTO Manager to receive e-mails from Eldorado K-8. You will still use IC for middle level assignments and grade postings.
